Puzzle Black Sea Premium 1000 pieces - Shipka, the Symbol of Freedom

For Bulgarians, Mount Shipka symbolizes the liberation of their country, the heroic deeds of their ancestors and their brave spirit. The monument of the liberation at the top of the mountain was built to commemorate the Bulgarian Volunteer Corps and the Russian soldiers that took part in the Battle of Shipka. It was inaugurated in 1934 personally by Tzar Boris the Third. The monument is shaped as a battle tower; it is 31.5 metres high, and to reach it the visitors have to climb all 894 steps to its base. Every year on March 3rd thousands of Bulgarians gather on Mount Shipka to honour the heroes that fell for the liberation of Bulgaria. Vladislav Terziyski is not only a photographer, he is an adventurer and a true lover of the mountain. For more than 10 years he takes up the challenge to conquer the most inaccessible places and battle the harsh weather conditions in order to capture truly impressive landscapes. His pictures reveal the incredible beauty of Bulgarian nature not only as seen from the ground but from the air too.
