Varna’s cathedral Uspenie Bogorodichno (Dormition of the Mother of God) is among the city’s most distinctive landmarks. It is a truly magnificent church that was erected in 1885 and since then it has served to the Christians in Bulgaria’s ‘coastal capital’. Its bell tower rises the impressive 38 m. For 25 years after its construction the cathedral remained the highest church in the country, and then it became second highest, lower only than St Alexandar Nevski Cathedral in the city of Sofia. Its icons have heard thousands of prayers. Its domes reflect the sunrays and with a divine glow that warms the souls of guests and citizens of Varna.The young, imaginative photographer Valentin Valkov works in a telecommunications company but his true passion is photography. His camera is always ready for the special moments around him. He loves to capture the beautiful sunsets over the mountains and the magnificent sunrises over the sea. They are his love, his inspiration. He also experiments with aerial photography, and recently he became interested in videography too.
