The Legend of Khan Kubrat’s testament, masterfully recreated on the canvas by the artist Dimitar Gudzhenov reads that one day the creator of Old Great Bulgaria called his sons to give them his wisest advice. He showed them a bundle of sticks and made them break it, but none of them succeeded. Then khan Kubrat took only one stick and broke it. He told his sons that as long as they are together just like the bundle and support each other, no one will be able to defeat them. Dimitar Gyudzhenov is a Bulgarian painter born in 1891 in the town of Stara Zagora. His paintings are mostly on the military and historical themes and are often used in encyclopedias and educational literature. His works praise the glorious history of Bulgaria and receive nationwide respect and recognition.
